TED talks hit perth

TED is coming to Perth! The date to note in your diaries (or phones) is 18 February 2011. We love you all to come! Why? First of all because it will be a fantastic, inspiring event, an opportunity to find out about some great initiatives in our own city/state and second because we have been asked to speak about our idea worth spreading: The Green Swing project.

Other speakers include:

  • Cedric Jacobs – Indigenous Elder and Chairperson of Perth Noongar Economic Foundation
  • Simon Spencer- Yammer General Manager (Asia-Pacific)
  • Dr. Owain Edwards – CSIRO Division of Ecosystem Sciences Principal Research Scientist
  • Jasmin Dillon – Mack truck accident survivor
  • Meredith Forder – Self Management Consultant
  • Tanya Cook – Artist

The investment for the day is only $40 to cover the catering costs. For more information on the event and to register visit the website http://www.tedxwhadjuk.com

We hope to see you on the 18th of Feb!

What is TED?

TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. They are known for their conferences; the best presentations/talks are made available via their website www.ted.com. We have already spent hours listening and watching some amazing speakers on a whole range of different subjects.

TEDxWhadjuk is the local, independently organized TED event in Perth. Whadjuk is the traditional, indigenous name for the Perth region. At these TEDxWhadjuk events, live speakers, performers, and the famous TED Talks videos combine to spark deep discussion and connection, encouraging the spread of good news, collaboration on great ideas locally and consideration of local innovation and impact relevant to the global stage. I am excited about the spread of TED to Perth and to the excitment such an event will bring. As an ardent fan of TED, my passion lead me to create videotalks.org for like-minded people. The site is robust and features links to dozens of excellent TED-like websites that feature talks, lectures, debates, etc. I was amazed to find the number of quality sites beyond TED and I know your readers and TED folks will enjoy the site as well. Keep up the great work of spreading the word about TED! Jim Melfi
